LiveJournal, while wonderful in many ways, and the one 'blogging' or 'social networking' site that I come back to, time after time... can be a frustrating and even rather hostile place at times.

A dear friend posted some thoughts on a topic to a few communities he's a part of, under the assumption that the topic might be of interest to the community members. He also posted a link to a website that hosts articles about this and related topics. He received some wonderful comments, positive feedback, gained some new friends... he was also attacked quite viciously by many people, people who clearly misunderstood his intentions and did not understand that said article was to be a mere 'jumping off' point for further discussion and more in-depth analysis, etc.

I just... feel awful right now. People can be so mean and so cutting. To what end? Do they feel better for having attacked a stranger, or assuming he is merely a troll - instead of asking questions, sparking debate, showing sources of further info to illustrate (rather than merely 'rub in') a point?

I'm frustrated. I was the one who encouraged and encouraged my friend to join LJ, spouted endlessly about it's virtues, and... in a way, lead him into a nasty little spiderweb to be ripped apart and devoured by the self-righteous, mean-spirited, or simply impolite.

As mentioned - *sigh*. At least I know that he will take the good points out of the feedback and make something positive and wonderful out of it. But I know the sting simple words left on this silly website can have... :(

In other news, I still read LJ as often as possible. That's less often some days, as I am busy-busy with college life. I still dream of blogging (in the figurative sense - my dreams are rarely so ... normal), and still don't have the slightest idea what I would actually ever say that a single soul would find remotely interesting. And thus I still don't blog. But I am here, I catch up when I can, and I miss all of you. :)

At least I know that the majority of those reading this won't feel the need to cut me open in a public forum... thanks for being gentle. And you know, nice people. :D

What's your sign?

Posted on 2009.08.27 at 18:56
There's only 3 of the 12 up so far, and I was going to wait until the rest were done but... I got impatient. You guys have GOT to see this new Zodiac line. It's incredibly original. Each design has all the 'classic' elements of the signs, but it's put together in such an inspired and unique way. I've spent too much of my time over the years looking up Zodiacal designs and I've literally never seen anything like these. They're just... so stunning. I'm wishing I could be every sign so I could wear them all without it being weird... lol

BTW, I hear Leo is coming next, followed by Libra and the rest of the signs may continue in order from there. So, keep an eye out for them for upcoming birthday gifts! Oh, and the designs are available on practically every item Zazzle sells, not just the mugs I linked here. I just think they look so awesome on the mugs, and was going for consistency I guess.. lol

Seriously, even if you're not into the Zodiac and horoscopes and stuff, you should give these a look anyway. They're just really nice pieces and.. I know a couple people who have been so stunned by them they rushed out to buy them even though they've never really given their 'sign' much thought before.

You might be surprised and find yourself interested! :)

Looking for something new and interesting?

Hey all.

Just thought I'd let you all know that my friend, the graphic designer and creative mind behind M Gogh Designs (see my last post), is on Livejournal now and he's posting some rather interesting stuff about design theory and such. I may be biased, but I think it's been a good read so far and I wanted to share the wealth. :) paradox_pilot

He sees things in very different - and very cool - ways, in my opinion. I don't expect anyone who has even a passing interest in art, design, graphics, type, color theory, or anything similar would be disappointed by adding his journal. And who knows what else he may post about in the future - one never really knows with him. :) He could talk about religion, life, philosophy, sex, movies, music, nature, travel... who knows!

While I'm here, for those who haven't added romneydark yet, go do that too. She's a pagan, gypsy-at-heart, writer with an interest in .. well.. everything? All those things mentioned above - she could easily bring up any one of them as well! She's recently begun posting a brief description of a different Tarot card each day (or every couple days) it's kinda cool. I know there's gotta be at least a few of you on my friend's list interested in that, right? :) She'll probably be posting more pagan/Wicca related snippets in the future too, when she's through the deck.

Seriously, these people are two of the most interesting, fun, and important people in my life. Not only do I think you should all go support their every endeavour just 'cause, but I truly think everyone who is lucky enough to 'meet' them, in whatever form, is blessed for it. :)

Go. Friend them. Enjoy!

Open for Business

I know I haven't posted in about forever. It has been an eventful year so far. So much going on! So many changes! Too much to talk about all at once. :)

So I'll stick to the latest, and the one I really want everyone to know about.

A very dear friend, who so happens to be an incredibly multi-talented artist (art, writing, music..!) has officially opened his graphic design business. He's been designing for years, but the 'officialness' has just begun. M Gogh Designs' brand new website (http://www.mgogh.com) went live earlier today. The portfolio and package samples are still being compiled and all, but... we're in business!

I say 'we' because, well, he's hired me - on faith, really - as his executive assistant. It's my job to interact with clients (and FIND them!), to do billing and emailing, etc.

So consider this my first step into networking and promotion! M Gogh is offering it's (our?) services to a wide range of businesses and individuals - whether you need business cards, website graphics, event posters, magazine article layouts, album covers... Matt does it all.

So... check us out, please. Tell your friends and employers and family and... let me know what you think, okay? :) You can also become a fan of M Gogh Designs on Facebook if you're there!

So, I'm bored. I know I ever update here anymore. I never feel like the stuff I have to say is all that interesting. *shrug*

So I decided to go 'old school' and do a huge, inane quiz post! Aren't y'all excited??

Are you bored too?Collapse )

Okay... I still have questions from Madelyn to answer sometime soon, but my brain was too stupid tonight. So... that was fun.

Goodnight now. :)
